The parliamentary team of the ruling Labor Party in the Federal Republic of Brazil received Comrade Driss Mrani, the leader of the Moroccan Progressive Movement, at the parliament headquarters in Brasília. The meeting aimed to discuss human rights issues in Morocco, and this visit represents a significant step for the Moroccan Progressive Movement towards enhancing international cooperation in the field of human rights with multiple parties to ensure the protection of Moroccan republican activists and the movement's commitment to exposing violations and crimes committed by the Moroccan regime and holding it accountable in international forums.
During the meeting, Comrade Driss Mrani discussed urgent issues related to human rights in Morocco with Congressman Paulo Fernando dos Santos, including concerning reports of torture and human rights violations. The focus was on issues related to activists and journalists facing difficulties due to their opposition to the existing political system.
Congressman Paulo dos Santos reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the demands and activities of the movement, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with human rights committees in the Brazilian parliament and the Ministry of Human Rights to ensure that these issues reach the relevant authorities.
Comrade Mrani pledged to continue working to protect human rights in Morocco and thanked the Brazilian parliamentary team for their support and readiness to cooperate on these vital issues.
During the meeting, Comrade Driss Mrani presented a report to Congressman Paulo Fernando dos Santos documenting the torture suffered by a member of the Moroccan Progressive Movement. The report detailed the serious violations faced by activists within Morocco at the hands of the authorities. Comrade Driss emphasized his commitment to providing future reports covering additional cases of torture and human rights violations to ensure that these issues do not go unaccounted for and to support international efforts to address these violations.
In turn, the movement's leader expressed sincere gratitude to journalist Pedro Lima, the Secretary-General of the Lima Committee Against Imperialism, for his continuous support of the Moroccan Progressive Movement and the legitimate demands of the Moroccan people. Mr. Pedro Lima's contribution reflects a deep commitment of a true activist to justice and the liberation of peoples from tyranny, and we look forward to continuing joint work with all liberation movements to lift injustice from the Moroccan people and other oppressed peoples.
